Pilates Instructor / Director and Owner
Sammy is the founder of Ocean Pilates and has been passionate about fitness and well-being all her life, she gained her first fitness qualifications in 1997 from the UK and worked in the health club industry as a Personal Trainer and Health Club Manager. Moving to Australia in 2007, Sammy completed the Mat Pilates Certification, from Pilates School of WA and established Ocean Pilates as the first Mat Pilates Studio in the Rockingham area in January 2008. After a number of years and totally hooked on the Pilates Method, Sammy continued her Pilates knowledge with the Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction, from Pilates International Training Centre and worked for Encore Pilates in Darwin, before re-establishing Ocean Pilates as an equipment Pilates studio in January 2016. Sammy is a Licensed Buff Bones® Instructor and a Level Two Member of Pilates Alliance Australasia, having taught over 5000 hours of Pilates and is a strong believer in continued education and personal growth.
Sammy is a perfectionist and this is reflected in her energetic teaching style with a hands on approach, she works her clients to achieve quality movement over quantity and to build a high level of body awareness.
Sammy understands and can appreciate just how hard it is sometimes to get motivated to exercise having suffered from inflammatory joint disease in her wrists. Through Pilates she has increased her grip strength, eradicated the pain in her back and neck and now enjoying life back at full strength.
Sarah is originally from the UK and moved to Perth in 2012, she loves the weather and the active lifestyle.
Sarah started her Pilates journey in January 2018 as a client of Ocean Pilates and loves the Pilates method as it caters to all body types and abilities, it is varied and never boring - "there is always something new to work on or develop".
Sarah then decided to become a Pilates instructor and has been teaching small group Mat classes as well as Studio Pilates ever since. Sarah combines her full-time role as a Registered Nurse (since 2010) with teaching Pilates, and believe that movement and exercise is vital in order to stay healthy in body and in mind.
